Schindewolf Intermediate School Recognized for submitting one-millionth Student Speak Up Survey

Evans, Walk and RaffinThis week, Julie Evans - CEO, Project Tomorrow visited Schindewolf Intermediate School in Houston, TX to recognize the school for submitting the one-millionth student Speak Up survey. Julie, along with Marci Walk, and Rae Raffin from SMART Technologies made the announcement and presented the free, SMART Board interactive whiteboard to the school at the sixth grade awards assembly on Tuesday, June 3rd.

Over 367,000 K-12 students, teachers, parents and administrators participated in Speak Up 2007, representing 3,700 schools from all 50 states. In addition to submitting the one-millionth student survey, nearly 90% of the students from Schindewolf Intermediate School shared their ideas on technology, science, careers of the future and 21st century skills with their school, district and state leaders through the online survey. Since the start of this project in fall 2003, over 1.2 million surveys have been submitted.

Julie was pleased to recognize Schindewolf Intermediate for participating in Speak Up 2007 and listening to their students’ ideas about technology use in school. Debbie Hamilton, principal of Schindewolf Intermediate School, thanked SMART Technologies and Project Tomorrow for their donation of the SMART Board and remarked “when teachers effectively use instructional technologies, like the SMART board, we can see a boost in student engagement and believe this creates higher achievements.”
